Technical Visit for The Murray Hotel
Date:
21 July 2018 (Saturday) from 0930 hours to 1200 hours
Location:
The Murray, 22 Cotton Tree Drive, Hong Kong
Programme
Highlights:
Located
in the heart of Central, the 27-storey Murray Building is one of the historic
landmarks of Hong Kong. The building was built in 1960’s and was regarded
as pioneer of sustainable architecture. The building has won numerous
awards for its groundbreaking and energy-efficient design. Instead of tearing down the building for
re-development, the developer revitalized the building as a 5-star hotel after 45-month
of alternative and addition work.
The
new 5-star hotel has come into operation in early 2018. All signature features of the building, including
the facade, the imposing 3-storey arches, the car ramp and distinctive recessed
windows, have been preserved during the revitalization.
The
hotel is the first customer obtaining 22-kV supply directly from the power
utilities and a number of energy wise actions have also been adopted during the
building revitalization.
The visit will introduce the project background as well as the
difficulties faced during the conservation.
Also, the electrical and M&E design of the Hotel will be briefed to let the participants to understand the
innovative technologies and sustainable design concept of the project. A house tour will also be arranged to visit
the new
outdoor spaces to experience the result of revitalization.

The
visit is free of charge to HKIE members. The number of participants will be
