Programme Highlights
Co-organised by Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture & Chemical Division (MMNC) and Electrical division (EL), members will have the opportunity to appreciate MTRCL's Smart Maintenance practices to provide repair services for the East Rail Line trains and the innovative IoT sensor technologies employed to monitor the condition of railway assets. By consolidating big data and analyzing patterns, the maintenance team gains actionable insights for predictive and prescriptive maintenance.
This visit showcased MTR's commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and technological advancement. Participants will gain insights into the complexities of maintaining a top-tier railway network and appreciate the innovative approaches driving the industry forward. This experience will contribute to the evolution of efficient, sustainable transportation systems worldwide.
The visit will include:
1. Exploring the MTR Data Studio and understanding the integration of IoT sensors and cameras into smart networks.
2. Learning about the smart maintenance practice that automates individual operational tasks to increase the efficiency of service and maintenance.
3. Gaining knowledge from industry experts and sharing insightful use cases of IoT sensor technologies

Things to note:
– Participants are REQUIRED to bring along your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the visit. Safety helmet is not required.
Registration Deadline
- Prior registration is required. The number of participants is limited to 30 numbers.
- Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis and priority will be given to members of MMNC division and Electrical division.
- All participants must register through the registration link.
- Successful applicants will be notified one week before the event.
- An electronic copy CPD certificate will be issued to attendees within one month after the event.
- The organizer reserves the right to disqualify and terminate those non-properly registered participants.
