Professional Short Course in Electrical Engineering
 
 


 

The Professional Short Course in Electrical Engineering is a series of classes designed for engineers, both experienced and young, from different sectors of the electrical industry who seek to refresh or acquire emerging knowledge of the focus topics in electrical engineering.

 

The 2017 Course comprises of 4 classes:

Class 1 (14-Mar-2017):     Electrical Traction and Overhead Line System

Class 2 (16-Mar-2017):     Wireless Power Transfer Technology

Class 3 (21-Mar-2017):    Mission Critical Facility Design

Class 4 (23-Mar-2017):     Experiences Sharing in Erecting EV Charging Infrastructure in Hong Kong

 

The course fee is HK$450 per class (HK$550 for non-HKIE member). Members are welcome to enroll in any of the 4 classes. The dead line for registration line is now extended and registration will be accepted on first-come first-served basis while available seats last.

 

For registration, please complete and return the Enrollment Form attached to the course flyer, together with a crossed cheque made payable to “The HKIE – Electrical Division” to UG8 Newport Centre, 116 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon (Attn: Ms. Pamela Cheng). 1. Important Note: With effect from 1 January 2012, all Registered Electrical Workers (REWs) are required to complete CPD training consisting of two modules namely, Module 1 “Statutory and Safety Requirement” and Model 2 for “Technical knowledge”, before registration renewal. All REW attending any one of the 4 classes are eligible to claim REW CPD Module 2 attendance for their registration renewal.


Another makeup class to cover the Module 1 “Statutory and Safety Requirement” of the CPD training for REW is scheduled in Q2 2017. Speaker from EMSD will discuss the roles and responsibilities of REW and Registered Electrical Contractors (RECs) with focus on good practices and typical malpractice identified as to complying with the statutory and safety requirements stipulated in the Electricity Ordinance (Cap. 406). REW who wishes to complete their registration renewal are encouraged to register for the Module 1 class as well. This class is free-of-charge and registration arrangement will be announced separately in due course.


2. With effect from 1 January 2015, REWs who are members in electrical or building services disciplines of professional organizations (such as HKIE) within the three years period before expiry of current REW registration and required to complete the mandatory CPD training under their respective professional membership would be regarded as satisfying the CPD requirement for REWs.
