CLP Energy Innovation for Smart City Competition 2020/2021 Prize Presentation Ceremony

The Prize Presentation Ceremony of CLP Energy Innovation for Smart City Competition 2020/2021 was successfully held on 9 July at Hong Kong Productivity Council. The competition has been organised since 2009, with an aim to encourage secondary school students to develop innovative low-carbon solutions for a smart city. The competition is jointly organised by the HKIE Electrical Division and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power), with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as the co-organiser and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council as the supporting organisations. It has received overwhelming participation throughout the years and engaged more than 3,600 students from over 270 schools in total. This year, among over 100 applications, ten teams were shortlisted by the judging panel to compete for championship and different awards.

In the mini-exhibition showcasing the finalists’ projects, the guests were given project brief by students and invited to experience the products. They appreciated the students’ efforts to resolve daily challenges through innovative ideas and encouraged the youth to keep the momentum of developing smart solutions for a sustainable future.

The announcement of the final results pushed the Ceremony to the climax. The prizes were presented to the winners by Ir Eric Pang, Director of EMSD, Ir SK Ho of CLP Power and other honourable guests. Special prizes such as “Best Application” and “Most Potential Project” were also presented to the teams with outstanding performance.
